Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I am thrilled to be leading the inaugural music program at Sacramento Valley Charter School and would like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself and provide some information about your child’s musical education.
I am a Bay Area native with 5 years of experience teaching band, choir, orchestra, musical theatre, and general music at every grade level TK-12. I’ve also been a private piano, saxophone, and voice instructor for many years. Music and the Arts are my deepest passion, and I feel so blessed to be able to share the gift of music with your students and our community. I’ve heard that the students at SVCS are incredibly gifted, eager learners, and I cannot wait to discover their musical talents!
To foster a positive and productive learning environment, I’ve created classroom rules represented by the acronym MUSIC:
* Make good choices please
* Use kind words
* Speak and sing when the time is right
* Involve Yourself
* Care For People & Property Around You
I aim to make music class a fun and inspiring space where students can develop their musical abilities and express themselves creatively. To encourage positive behavior, I utilize a yellow/orange/red card system. Parents may communicate with me via email, Class Dojo, or my class website: [Insert website link].
I'm excited to announce an after-school enrichment program starting in a few weeks. For students in Grades 3-8, I will be directing a musical theatre program culminating in a full-scale production next spring. Students interested in singing, acting, dancing, gymnastics, set construction, lighting, or backstage management are encouraged to participate. Additionally, we will offer music performances for all SVCS students to showcase their talents for family and friends.
As our music program is brand new, we are working diligently to acquire musical instruments, text books, and equipment to provide an amazing music education experience for your child. If you are interested in donating your time as a volunteer or resources to our fledgling program please do not hesitate to contact our administration. Creating a music program at SVCS will be an incredible addition to the academic and extracurricular offerings here, and I am very honored to help lead the way. Please stay tuned for more information about these exciting opportunities!
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mr. Beau Phillips

Sacramento valley charter School
Hello, I'm Mr. Beau Phillips, your child's new music teacher at Sacramento Valley Charter School. With five years of immersive experience teaching choir, band, musical theater, orchestra, and general music to students from kindergarten through twelfth grade, I've had the extraordinary opportunity to cultivate young musical minds at every stage of their development.
My passion for music extends beyond the classroom. As a seasoned theater professional, I've brought beloved musicals like Annie and Willy Wonka to life through producing, directing, and choreographing. i also won an arty award for best high school musical direction for my work on pirates of penzance.
My academic journey, culminating in a BFA in Musical Theater and a master’s in Secondary Education, has provided me with a robust foundation in music education. I'm excited to announce that I'll be deepening my musical knowledge by pursuing a Doctorate in Music Composition next year.
When I'm not teaching or studying, I enjoy performing as a singer-songwriter and pianist, and I'm also a music studio engineer and producer. I'm a dedicated sports fan, cheering for the Niners and Lakers. I'm eager to foster a love of music in your child and create a dynamic, inspiring learning environment.
